This is my first time making homemade whipped cream and it came out perfect! I usually buy it out of the grocery store, but I decided since the summer is here and the kids are out of school, I would make it myself. (We’re trying to save as much money as possible by doing things ourselves.) This actually tastes so fluffy and tasty! It is definitely easy as pie to make…. It was oh-so-fabulous on my vanilla cupcakes. If you’re interested in the cupcake recipe, check out my Best Recipe for Vanilla Cupcakes. But for now…on to that whipped cream recipe.
Ingredients:
1 cup of heavy whipping cream or heavy cream
3 tablespoons of confectioner’s sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract or almond extract
Directions:
Put the heavy cream into the freezer for about 20 minutes. Try not to let it freeze. Also, put the bowl that you will whip the cream into the freezer, along with the whisk or stirring part for the blender. Let these items stay in as long as the heavy cream.
Remove from freezer. Pour heavy cream into cold bowl, along with sugar and vanilla. (I used a glass bowl). Start the blender on low as to keep the milk in the bowl. Some people may use a handheld whisk….sounds like a lot of work. I’m using a blender. Blend for about 3 to 4 minutes. Just keep an eye on the cream. As soon as it starts to look like thick clouds of whip cream, it is ready. I will definitely make my own whip cream from now on…..It just tastes so much better when you make it homemade.
I set the leftover back into the freezer. Didn’t realize that it had frozen when I went back in a couple of hours. So, I broke into small pieces. I placed them into individual plastic wraps, put them into a freezer bag and popped them back into the freezer. Now, when my daughters make hot chocolate, they can pop individual pieces into the hot chocolate. You can also eat these as little snacks….tastes just like ice cream. I know. I had one.
