I’ve decided that I WILL get in 8 glasses of water per day. Now, that I had decided that, I just had to come up with a plan to get it done. I’ve tried several different ways of getting in all of this water. It really doesn’t matter which way as long as you consume at least 8 glasses. So, take a look at some of the ways that I’ve tried and see if they work for you.
Items Needed:
- Large container or
- regular size water bottles or
- cup or glass container
(This way works best when you work from home or a stay-at-home mom/dad)
First, I tried using a regular measuring cup. It seems I’m always in the kitchen, so, I decided to use a regular measuring cup and keep track of the numbers of cups of water consumed.
Now to keep track of the cups of water consumed, I purchased these cute magnets from Everything’s A Dollar. Whenever, I consumed a cup, I would move a magnet up from the bottom of the fridge to the top section that meant, “consumed already.” This was one of my first ventures at trying to consume 8 glasses of water. Seriously, the magnets did motivate me to keep guzzling. We gotta to do what we gotta to do, right? I’m not a coffee drinker, so the magnets didn’t make me want to drink coffee. They were just so darn cute, though.
Second, I tried the 4 bottles of water way. I number them 1, 2, 3, 4. I drank them throughout the day. If I completed all bottles, then I knew that I had consumed at least 8 glasses of water. If I only finished bottles 1 and 2, then I needed to work a little harder. The only thing about this way is that I would lose a bottle here or there. Note: If you consume all four bottles, it’s about 1/3 cup over 8 glasses. Each bottle contains a little more than 2 cups.
Third, I purchased a large 74.4 oz container from Walmart. It was inexpensive to purchase. I think I paid about $2 and some change. I marked cup amounts on the container using a marker. Looking at the container, you can tell that I’m getting in more than 8 glasses of water. The marking on the container really helps me. It lets me know how many cups I have left to drink during a certain time of the day. With this container, I only have to focus on draining the container by the end of the day or a certain time of the day. (For me, I like to finish water consumption by at least 8 or 8:30pm. It depends on what time you have to go to bed. Trust me, you’ll want to finish early so that you’re not up all night running to the bathroom.) This method worked best for me. I’ve been able to get in 8 or more glasses of water per day. With this container, you could just fill to top and get in 74.4 ounces of water.
Benefits of drinking 8 glasses of water:
- skin looks fabulously
- helps to maintain normal bowel functions
- helps your kidneys by ridding the body of toxins
- can help reduce the number of caloric drinks…you’ll be too full to drink anything besides water. This is a definite plus if you’re watching your calorie intake.
- makes you feel better overall…
So, how do you get in your 8 glasses of water?
Just what I was looking for, appreciate it for posting.
I really need to drink more water. The magnet idea is cute, but drinking out of one container a day sounds like the easiest 🙂
I would love ti di 8 glasses a day but I just cant manage it.
Hi Bintu. It is definitely hard to manage, but I’ve been doing pretty good. Hoping that it just becomes a natural thing for me….
I have a water cooler in my kitchen, so I lay 2 penny’s in back of cooler, and use a quart jar to drink from (with straw) so I put a penny up front as I fill my jar, so when my 2nd penny is up front and I drink it,I have had my water for the day.

Hi June! I like this plan also. Sometimes, it’s so difficult to get in those 8 glasses of water. I feel so proud when I accomplish 8 in a day…
