Bleaching a Spread
Why am I bleaching a spread? I’m trying to save money but I need a white spread or quilt and can’t afford one. So, I’m going to bleach a peach spread to white. I’m doing a bedroom makeover and need a white spread. I found one for $7.36. It just wasn’t….white. It was peach. I attempted to bleach it white. Check out the video to find out how it turned out!
Steps for Bleaching a Spread:
First, depending on the size of the spread, place it in a large plastic container. I used a 50-gallon-size tub. Fill with 3/4 hot water. Use 1 and 1/2 gallons of bleach. I ended up using 2 gallons of bleach.
Next, soak for at least 24 hours or until it turns bright white. Depending on the original color of the spread, the time could be shorter or longer.
Then, wring out the spread and place it in the dryer or on a clothing line. Wringing out a heavy spread will take some time and arm muscle.
This spread turned out gorgeous! I used it in a makeover I did for my bedroom. You can check out how it looks in this fabulous bedroom makeover.
