If you’re like me, you hate to clean the shower. Scrubbing. Scraping. Caulking. In order to have a clean shower, you probably would have to do this every two weeks or more often. Well, a couple of year ago, I found a quick and easy way to clean my shower. It was so simple that I couldn’t believe that I hadn’t tried it before.
Once I did this, I didn’t have to recaulk for a year. The idea of not caulking is definitely tops on my list.
Method:
First, remove any old caulking. Then, spray down the entire shower with Clorox. Yep, Clorox! Now, the first time I sprayed my shower, I used full strength clorox. I had to cover my nose with a cloth. You definitely want to water it down some! It is very strong when you spray. You definitely want to ventilate the area you’re spraying by opening as many windows as possible. It may be a good idea to spray it before you’re leaving the house to either go to work or run errands. That way, the odor of the clorox will have calmed down by the time you return.
I sprayed down my shower. Left. Came back. The entire shower was completely white. It was like it was sparkling. I didn’t believe it would work, but it did. I caulked the shower and couldn’t believe I didn’t have to do any recaulking for the rest of the year. That’s my kind of cleaning!
Hi just wondering if the clorox would hurt a fiberglass tub / shower? Thanks and Everyone please have a safe and wonderful New Years.
Hi Rene. I’m not sure. You can test spot a small spot if you think it will or water down the clorox quite a bit. I don’t have fiberglass tubs or showers. I know someone who does and they use a mixture of baking soda and vinegar. It works for them on the fiberglass. You could try that and see how it works. Have a wonderful New Year!
I dread cleaning my shower. I tried this method this morning and it worked PERFECTLY…No more scrubbing or reclauking for me….Thats my type of cleaning. Thanks Sharon!
You’re welcome Clarice! Isn’t this just a fantastic way to clean the shower! I smile everytime I clean the shower this way. Never going back to that old way….

Hoping for a really clean shower 🙂
