How To Get Gum Out Of Your Sofa

002B

The last thing you want to see on your couch is gum.  My daughter fell asleep on the couch with gum in her mouth.  Where did it end up? In my new sofa and pillow.  My biggest concern is getting it out of the sofa.  The pillow has that stringy material that can be cut out.  How did I get the gum out?

First, take a piece of ice and rum over the gum until it freezes hard.  I didn’t feel like sitting there rubbing ice on the sofa, so I just set  the ice on top of the gum and walked away.  I didn’t put the ice in anything, I just set the cube of ice on top of the stuck gum. It probably set for about two hours or so.  I threw the ice away and scraped the gum off with a butter knife.  It actually came off.  However, you have to be careful because it does require pulling  some of the last remaining bits of gum off.  Since it had hardened, it wasn’t that difficult to get off.  And believe it or not, I can’t see where the gum was before.  For the pillow, I cut the gum out because it was between to much stringy material.

  1. What an intelligent tip, Sharon! Im gonna need that a lot 🙂 Thanks 🙂
Does it work on hair too ? I’ve had to cut my hair when i was young 🙁

    • Thanks. I don’t think it works on hair. If so, my oldest child could have used that tip about 8 years ago. LOL. Instead, we had to bring on the cutting shears… Great thing about hair, it grows back! For my pillow, I had to cut the gum out. Too much stringy stuff going on with it.
